Purpose of award: Created in 1978, the Omaha Symphony Guild International New Music Competition offers not only a monetary award to amateur composers but also the opportunity to hear their contemporary classical work performed by a professional orchestra, the Omaha Symphony.
Eligibility requirements: The New Music Competition is open to any composer over the' age of 25. The entry must not have been published or performed previously and must not exceed 20 minutes in length. Compositions intended for small ensembles do not qualify for submission.

Amount: $3,000.
Number of awards: 1.
