Purpose of award: To help Florida public school teachers with loans.
Eligibility requirements: Applicants should be teaching in the critical shortage area full-time at least 90 days of the school year under contract at a publicly funded Florida school, and they should have valid Florida teacher's certificates (temporary or professional) or Florida Department of Health licenses (temporary or permanent) in the same critical shortage area as teaching. Applicants must apply by the end of the first year of having both the critical shortage position and the critical shortage certificate or license. This program helps repay undergraduate and graduate educational loans that led to certification in a critical teacher shortage subject area, and the loans must have paid for courses before becoming a certified teacher. Applicants should submit applications and transcripts. A list of critical teacher shortage areas is listed online.
