Purpose of award: To allow minority students to participate in research or community-based clinical training to promote health issues of medically underserved communities in California.
Eligibility requirements: Applicants must be African American, mainland Puerto Rican, Mexican American, Native Hawaiian, Alaska Native or American Indian second- or third-year students at California medical schools. The award is for the third or fourth year of medical school and is based on commitment to practice in California, interest in community-based primary care, academic performance, leadership and financial need. Recommendation letters, applications, statements, transcripts, financial aid documents and essays are required.
